2022 Leadership Development Intensive Training

Are you interested in serving the church in a leadership capacity? This might include being an elder, deacon, deaconess, teacher, small-group leader, or numerous other possibilities.

Join us for this eight week study where we’ll explore the fundamentals and basics of our faith and denomination. There are two tracks available; an early Tuesday morning track (6:30 - 8 a.m.) that meets weekly, and a Wednesday evening track (6:30 - 8 p.m.) that also meets weekly. If you are being considered for the role of elder, deacon, or deaconess, we are asking that you commit to all eight lectures with no more than one “excused absence.”

Format

The format of the training will occur in a three-legged approach:

  • Personal Reading and Reflection
  • Small group/table discussion based on the reading
  • Lecture based on the reading and discussion

Sessions will take place over the course of nine weeks with one week off for Spring Break. There will be a morning track and an evening track.

For those being considered for the role of elder, deacon, or deaconess, in addition to the schedule below, there will be a four-week campus-specific training led by each campus pastor. Reading materials and hands-on ministry training scheduled at their discretion.

The schedule for the core intensives will be as follows; all sessions will take place at the Old Hickory Blvd Campus:

Feb 8 or 9: Week 1—Introduction and review of Concise Theology

Feb 15 or 16: Week 2—Review of CPC101, Every Good Endeavor, and “Why Work?”

Feb 22 or 23: Week 3—Review of Jesus Outside the Lines

Mar 1 or 2: Week 4—Westminster Confession Part 1 (chapters 1 - 8)

Mar 8 or 9: Week 5—Westminster Confession Part 2 (chapters 9 - 16)

Week of March 14: Off (Spring Break)

March 22 or 23: Week 6—Westminster Confession Part 3 (chapters 17 - 24)

March 29 or 30: Week 7—Westminster Confession Part 4 (chapters 25 - 33)

April 5 or 6: Week 8—Review of the Book of Church Order
